Most of my time is currently dedicated to decorating and moving house activities and I don’t really get time to go out with my camera to take new pictures. Lack of ideas? No Monday post? No – I had a look through my archived pictures instead and looked what I was up to about a year ago.
In April last year we went out for a walk near the Hampshire Bowman in Bishops Waltham and enjoyed a lovely sunny day with the first flowers and butterflies being out 🙂 One of the pictures I took is the above dog-violet. I’m always amazed by the flora in the UK. I knew this little flower was a violet but I had to look up which particular it was – a ‘dog-violet’. Why the hell does it have this name? That’s was at least what I was wondering. The answer on the Plant Life website is simple:”‘Dog’ means it lacks scent, as opposed to ‘sweet’ violet”. I’ll leave it there…
