Winter in Leiden – 49/16

Winter in Leiden

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? I can’t actually remember when we had the last white Christmas. Winters are to warm these days and living on the English South Coast, the chance of snow is very low.

I remember many snowy winters from my childhood and my time in Germany and The Netherlands. Todays picture was taken in Leiden in The Netherlands a couple of years ago. Not at Christmas but at the beginning of December. I can remember people saying that I’d be so lucky to have snow for my birthday… well I don’t really like snow. As child I did but getting older, needing to get to work and being stuck in traffic I enjoy it less and less. A real winter holiday with plenty of snow, a clear blue sky and sun and no rush to go anywhere would be nice though. One day…

I like this picture, showing the for The Netherlands so characteristic bikes completely snowed under… Eventhough it doesn’t look like it, people still cycle in snow and ice.

...you will find a pot of gold. The truth is that none has ever found the end of the rainbow or the promised pot of gold. I haven't found them either but I have found many wonderful places during my travels in Europe. Come follow me and see the world with my eyes. Whenever I think I have found the most wonderful place, I know that I will continue to search, discover and travel. I know that I will find new places and that I will again think that they are the most wonderful places that I've ever seen. This a personal project where I want to share my travel experience, passion for photography and creativity with you.
