This picture is already a bit older and was taken in 2011. I was a quite active member of the European Charter of Rural Communities and have joined many meetings across Europe. This picture was taken during a meeting in Troisvierges (Luxemburg). Those meetings usually exist of workshops, discussions, excursions and a lot of time for socialising and making new friends. One of the activities during this meeting was a trip to Vianden Castle.
Vianden Castle is located in the north of Luxemburg and one of the largest fortified castles west of the Rhine. The castle was built over a period of several centuries (11th – 14th) and I was impressed by it’s good state. The picture was taken from inside the castle from one of the higher levels.
The interior shows many historic features, old furniture, equipment, weapons and paintings. I’m planning to write a dedicated post about the castle with more picture at some point but because I waited so long to realise my idea of a website that I have a huge backlog or to say it in a positive way – I won’t run out of ideas any time soon 🙂
