Bruges, the city of chocolate and beer… Basically, heaven 🙂 If you read my posts regularly, you’ll know that Bruges was on my wishlist for a city trip for quite some time. I was there previously but never spent much time there. This time we spent 3 full days there and it is still not enough. The city seems to have many day tourists that just stay for one day, often not even over night. We noticed a lot of Americans but also travellers from all over the world. The city is friendly and gave us a welcome feeling. Yes, tourists are money and you can see and feel that in Bruges, too but not as badly as in other places. 8 Euro seems to be the standard entrance fee… If in doubt, it’s gonna be 8 Euro.
Going back to the fact that many people only stay for the day – it’s not enough. Really, it isn’t. If you want to see the city, do a guided tour, some shopping, taste some beer, chocolate, mussels and chips, maybe visit a museum, be prepared to come back!
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be posting about the activities that we did and how we enjoyed our stay. It might give you a few ideas when you are planning on going.
The picture was taken near the old fish market and seems to be a famous and popular location for photographers (I can understand why). The view is on quite a few post cards and will be in quite a few photo albums and on many Facebook profiles. Watch this space for more info about Bruges.
