A wild tortoise – 5/16

Tortoise at La Mola

Our holiday in Menorca was amazing and we had many special moments allowing us to create many special moments. Discovering this wild tortoise, sunbathing at La Mola was one of these moments. It was not the first wild tortoise and not the last one I’ve seen since but it was special. I remember having seen a wild tortoise in Greece when I was a child but it had been a long time since.

This little fella was enjoying the sun when we made our first attempt to visit La Mola. The old fort is not a ruin but mostly abandoned and used as a museum nowadays. The fort is huge and nature is taking it back in many places and that’s probably how this little creature found a home. The opening hours for museums in Menorca a somewhat different to the UK or Middle Europe. During low season many museums close at 2pm. Our first attempt to visit was about lunch time and we wouldn’t have had enough time to see the whole fort. The second time, we knew to come earlier and had a wonderful time there. This place is incredible and rich of information. A must for people interested in history! It’s worth visiting and as I say about many other topics – I’m planning to write a full post about it. One day I’ll hopefully have more time.

Please have a look at my other Menorca posts if you’re interested or maybe even considering visiting the island.

...you will find a pot of gold. The truth is that none has ever found the end of the rainbow or the promised pot of gold. I haven't found them either but I have found many wonderful places during my travels in Europe. Come follow me and see the world with my eyes. Whenever I think I have found the most wonderful place, I know that I will continue to search, discover and travel. I know that I will find new places and that I will again think that they are the most wonderful places that I've ever seen. This a personal project where I want to share my travel experience, passion for photography and creativity with you.
