This weeks picture shows black swans at Emsworth Harbour and was taken last weekend. We went out for a walk from Emsworth to Langstone along the seafront. When we approached Emsworth Harbour we noticed that it was quite busy there and a lot of people were looking at the water. Soon we found out that the reason for this were 5 black swans swimming there.
It’s not the first time we did this walk but I’ve never seen them in the area before. In fact, I had never seen them in nature but only parks and zoos before. Wild black swans are not native to the UK and relatively rare in nature. They are originally from Australia and were introduced to the UK as ornamental birds a few hundred years ago.
