Amerigo Vespucci – Sail Bremerhaven 2010 – 36/16

Sail 2010 - Amerigo Vespucci

The Amerigo Vespucci is an old and very impressive sailing ship. Built in 1930, the ship was delivered to the Italian Royal Navy and has served as a training ship since. Even these days, where naval warfare and technology is completely different to how it was in 1930, the ship is still in use for training purposes. However, these have changed. These days the ships is used to expose and familiarise the cadets to life at sea and the elements and to promote the Italian Navy and diplomacy world wide. More information about the Amerigo Vespucci can be found on the website of the Italian Navy.

The picture was taken in Bremerhaven (Germany) during the maritime festival Sail in 2010. The festival takes place every five years and turns the naval city into a festival place for several days. Sail ships mainly from Europe but also from all over the world come to Bremerhaven and can be admired and most also be visited by the public. The next Sail is planned for 12.08.-16.08.2020.

...you will find a pot of gold. The truth is that none has ever found the end of the rainbow or the promised pot of gold. I haven't found them either but I have found many wonderful places during my travels in Europe. Come follow me and see the world with my eyes. Whenever I think I have found the most wonderful place, I know that I will continue to search, discover and travel. I know that I will find new places and that I will again think that they are the most wonderful places that I've ever seen. This a personal project where I want to share my travel experience, passion for photography and creativity with you.
