A slightly moody picture this Monday. Slightly moody like I am and slightly moody like the weather is today. That’s about the only moodiness though – the picture brings back the memories of a nice holiday at the Algarve (Portugal) and to be honest, I like the moodiness and colour combination.
The Fortaleza Sagres is a good drive away from the main touristic cities on the Portuguese south-coast but surrounded by beautiful landscape and definitely worth a visit. Not far from the Fortaleza is also the most western light house on the European Mainland – Farol Cabo de São Vicente. Another reason to go!
The fort was built in the 15th century and was meant to protect the Sagres Peninsular from North African raiders. The use of the fort changed over the years and varied from naval to trade use and is a museum today. Visitors can find more information on Algarve-Tourist.com to plan their visit.
